| Description |
Located in Pittsburgh, Pa, Carlow University, founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1929, seeks a Chief of Police/Director of Safety and Security. This highly visible position reports to, and effectively collaborates with, the Vice President of University Communications and Community Relations to chart the future development of the department. The position is responsible for all administrative, operational, organizational, financial, and personnel management for a 24/7, 365-days-per-year operation. This position will manage patrol, crime prevention, crime statistic reporting, officer recruitment and training, and community relations while working closely with campus constituents to develop and advance programs and services to benefit students, faculty, staff, and visitors, as well as the protection of University property.

Educational Qualifications
--A bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related field
--Graduation for the Pennsylvania Police Training Academy, Act 120
--Certification as a First Responder and in CPR
Experiential Qualifications
--At least 10 years of successful years of management and administrative experience
--Demonstrated leadership ability through a proven track record of effective, positive, ethical, and productive leadership of direct reports
--Demonstrated understanding of the mission and core values of Carlow University and the Sisters of Mercy
--The ability to prioritize/manage multiple projects
--Experience in university law enforcement preferred
--Exceptional interpersonal, public relations, and oral/written communication skills
--Demonstrated ability to use computer software/hardware and security/fire detection technology
